The Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) and the Department of Politics & I.R of the university organized a one day Seminar on علامہ اقبال: حیات وافکار at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, IIU Faisal Masjid, Islamabad on 21 November 2016.
Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector, IIU said that the life and thoughts of Allama Iqbal was a revival of the Muslim’s glories. The Iqbal told youth not to be impressed by the fake glitter of west, while he encouraged them to move forward in various fields of life with a blend of Islamic teachings. He added that country’s educational system must reflect thoughts of great thinker as it would pave the way to lead the world in the light of Islamic teachings. He opined that Iqbal advocated the Muslim Ummah’s unity and this salient feature is a pre-requisite for a prosperous future, while it also can help in discouraging sects and racism. He desired that frequencies of such seminars be increased at male and female campuses.
The speakers shared their thoughts on Iqbal’s work, message and application of his ideas in the society. Participants opined that country can acquire socio-economic targets by following the guiding principles of the poet of East.
President IIUI stressed that Muslim scholars should also write on Iqbal in Arabic as Iqbal’s audience was the whole Muslim Ummah .
It is necessary write on Iqbal in Arabic language because Iqbal addressed to the whole Muslim Ummah. President IIUI. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI said that Iqbal’s message of Muslim’s unity and his strict believe in oneness of God are the attributes which are a guarantee to success in both in this life and life in hereafter. He urged that Iqbal’s view towards West is a vital subject which must be introduced to the Muslim youth. He discussed Allama Iqbal’s association and love towards Quran and Sunnah. President IIUI also stressed that Muslim scholars should also write on Iqbal in Arabic as he addressed whole Muslim world.
The event was also addressed by Vice President IIUI, Dr. Muhammad Munir, Executive Director IRD, Dr. Husn ul Amin, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Nabi Bux Jummani, Director, Islamic Research Institute, Dr Muhammad Zia ul Haq, renowned scholar Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim, Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law Dr. Tahir Hakeem, Advisor to the President IIUI, Dr. Fazl e Rabi Mumtaz, Head of the Urdu Department Dr. Aziz Ibn ul Hassan, Dr. Ashraf Abul Rafai, Dr, Abdurauf Rafiqi, Dr. Abdul Mohsin and Dr. Somia Aziz.
